MCP's History

At MCP, we are sincerely, genuinely, completely and totally committed to the creation and appreciation of the photographic arts. It's why we began exhibiting in 1990 in a small alternative art space over a Minneapolis auto body parts shop. And it's the reason we exist today.

While above the auto body shop, we called ourselves pARTs-short for Photographic Arts. From 1996-2004, our space was located further south along Lyndale in the Calhoun Building. In 2002, we changed our name to the Minnesota Center for Photography (MCP) to better reflect our mission and the caliber of work we were attracting.

Today, we are thrilled to be housed in a beautifully renovated 8,000 square foot facility in Northeast Minneapolis. Dedicated to maintaining our position as the leading center for photography in the upper Midwest, we continue to exhibit work that is both intellectually stimulating and artistically exceptional.
