About MCP's Education Program

You don't take a photograph, you make it.
+Ansel Adams

The Minnesota Center for Photography has been educating audiences through its programming of vital exhibitions, lectures, and reviews for more than 15 years. We are dedicated to maintaining our position as the leading center for photography in the upper Midwest, and continue to exhibit work that is both intellectually stimulating and artistically exceptional. As part of a thriving arts community, we are actively pursuing new opportunities to promote this critical medium of contemporary art on a local level through diverse and engaging educational programming.

Our courses range from beginner to professional, youth to adult, analog to digital. We offer intensive 8-10 week courses, 1-3 day workshops, one-time classes, seminars, informational lectures, portfolio reviews, mentorships, and outreach programs. Our photographic curriculum addresses aesthetics, concepts, historical processes, and techniques by instructors that meet a high level of proficiency in course topics, photographic mastery, and teaching skills.

MCP educational offerings occur within 4 terms a year: Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter. We attempt to schedule a variety of courses, workshops, seminars, and lectures within the given dates, along with a break in the winter during the holidays.

Spring 08: April 1 - June 13
Summer 08: June 16 - August 29
Fall 08: September 8 - December 14
Winter 08: TBD
