Course Description
Creating photographs demands more than mastery of technique - it also requires personal vision. This course explores how to bring personal meaning to one's photographic work, and examines what constitutes a cohesive body of work and a finished portfolio. First, we review examples of how other photographers have infused personal vision into their photographs. Then, in a supportive setting, we review participant's current work, steps taken so far, and areas for potential growth. Students create a definition of the project they would like to pursue and will have time to present work and get feedback as they develop their project. Through editing, sequencing, and presentation methods, participants will acquire the tools to create a finished portfolio of work.

Requirements
Participants should be at an intermediate level of photography, have knowledge and experience in image making without assistance, and have a body of work of at least 8 images for review early in the course. This course will not cover photographic processes. This course is for students who want to take the next step in developing their photographic vision by creating a strong body of work.

Participants will be expected to produce their own prints for review, through a digital service bureau, printing at home, or through access to or Digital Lab.

Participants are allotted 18 hours of open digital lab time for no additional charge during the duration of this course for class related work only. Ink and paper fees still apply. MCP's Darkroom can be used during open lab hours for no additional charge during the duration of the course, with no limit on hours.
