David Luke + Joan Rothfuss

David Luke is an interdisciplinary artist in Minneapolis, MN. He received his BFA in photography from Indiana University and his MFA from Stony Brook University (New York). His work investigates the politics of war and the role of photography in contemporary culture.

Luke's work has been shown at Intermedia Arts (Minneapolis), Altered Aesthetics (Minneapolis), The New Image Gallery at James Madison University, The Museum of Fine Arts at Florida State University, SESI Gallery (San Paulo, Brazil), and Gigantic Artspace (New York, NY).

Luke has also taught photography and digital media at Normandale Community College (Bloomington, MN), The City University of New York (CUNY), Molloy College (Rockville Center, NY), and Stony Brook University (New York).

Joan Rothfuss is a writer and art historian who was curator at the Walker Art Center for over seventeen years. Among the many exhibitions she organized are Past Things and Present: Jasper Johns since 1983, Joseph Beuys Multiples, and In the Spirit of Fluxus. Her published writings include essays on Jasper Johns, Joseph Beuys, Bruce Conner, and Yoko Ono, and she was co-editor of Bits & Pieces Put Together to Present a Semblance of a Whole (2005), a catalogue of the Walker's permanent collection. She is currently working on a biography of the avant-garde cellist Charlotte Moorman, for which she was awarded research fellowships from the Dedalus Foundation and the Getty Grant Program, among others. Rothfuss holds an M.A. in Art History from the University of Minnesota and a B.F.A. from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design.
