Description
Marketing and sharing artwork has changed dramatically in the past five years, and artists have more options than ever for creative marketing tools that are accessible and easy on the pocketbook. This workshop covers one of the many options out there for simple yet engaging portfolio sharing- print on demand books through blurb.com. Participants will learn about blurb.com and will go through the process of creating a small photo book. This will be an intensive workshop, focusing on examples of artist books, prepping images and text technically using Photoshop CS3 and Word, sequencing and editing work, and creating a book through the blurb.com Book Smart software.
Requirements
Participants should have experience and a solid foundation in computer and Internet use and have access to an artist statement or equivalent and at least 10 - 15 images for their book- scanning 35 mm and medium format negatives and digital image optimizing will be covered in the workshop, but students must provide images to work with, and bring a jump/flash drive so they can bring the optimized images with them.
Participants are allotted 10 hours of open lab time for no additional charge during the duration of this workshop in MCP's Digital Lab, for class related work only.
+Please Note+
All sessions will use iMac 17" computers with Photoshop CS3 and a FireFox Internet browser. PC users are welcome, but this class will focus and work on solutions, terminology, and software available on a Mac.
