Gallery and Education Coordinator

Reports To: Executive Director
Type: Full Time, salary commensurate with experience

Gallery and Education Coordinator will administer, facilitate, and implement the Minnesota Center for Photography's (MCP) comprehensive education program and assist in the management of MCP's gallery operations.

Education
Maintain and expand MCP's educational program, including adult classes, workshops, seminars, and lectures, youth classes, outreach programs, 5 Centers for Art activities and workshops, portfolio reviews, and public education events.

Detailed responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
1. Maintain MCP's existing educational program.
2. Conceptualize educational programming based on MCP's stated mission and assist instructors in the development and improvement of curriculum.
3. Recruit, interview, and hire all instructors.
4. Assist Center Administrator in hiring Teaching Assistants for educational offerings.
5. Manage instructor, teacher assistant, and all other education contracts.
6. Coordinate entire education schedule and use of facilities.
7. Supervise Darkroom, Digital Lab, and Bookstore managers, and initiate new hires when needed.
8. Manage image archive of education events and student images.
9. Develop, monitor, and assess instructor, teacher assistant, and student evaluations.
10. Speak to the public, clients, potential donors, and arts community about MCP's educational programs and activities.
11. Develop relationships with local arts organizations, businesses, and schools to promote MCP's educational programs.
12. Facilitate MCP's Rent a Pro program, including recruiting new Pros.
13. Provide assistance to students with questions about and registration for classes.
14. Continuous reinforcement of an innovative, accessible, and high quality educational program to a diverse audience.
15. Write grant proposals for educational programs, materials, and equipment.
16. Manage the education budget.
17. Assist in the promotion of educational programming.
18. Edit and update the education section of MCP's website.

Gallery
Assist MCP's Artistic Director, Programming Committee, or outside curators in the conception and implementation of exhibitions, artist's lectures, exhibition related events, and special portfolio reviews. Manage communication with artists, including contracts and artwork shipments, oversee installation of exhibitions, and assist with annual fundraiser, PhotoBravo.

Detailed responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
1. Manage all artist, gallery, and exhibition contracts.
2. Hire and supervise installation crew, art handlers, and exhibition interns.
3. Manage the installation and de-installation of exhibitions.
4. Facilitate all artwork sales and the fulfillment of those sales.
5. Assist in the promotion of all exhibitions and related programming.
6. Manage monthly lecture series (Second Tuesday Lecture Series).
7. Manage MN Projects Gallery and Member Spotlight exhibition spaces.
8. Manage all artist and image related aspects of annual fundraiser (PhotoBravo) and biennial juried exhibition (Photocentric).

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Fine Arts (MFA desired, but not required).
2. Experience in arts education and working with educators.
3. Experience in gallery or exhibition supervision.
4. Competency and experience in photography and Mac computers is essential- including digital equipment (Epson printers, Nikon scanners, etc.), software programs (Photoshop, Word, Excel, etc,), and current photographic trends and practices.
